"Hambantota is being developed to the status of a commercial city,"
said speaker Chamal Rajapaksa addressing a meeting at Hambantota
recently. He said that the city of Hambantota which had been identified
as a remote city in the country, is now being developed under a greater
Hambantota plan mooted by the Urban Development Authority.
"It is also being developed as a second commercial city of the
country opening air and sea destinations to the world, with the setting
up of the sea port and the airport," said the speaker.
The greater Hambantota development plan will focus on the development
of the present city area and the adjoining Pradeshiya Sabha area.
Under this development plan an administration complex and an
international convention hall have already come up. |
