ICSO counsellor lauds Lanka's progress in coop sector

The International Cooperative Society Organization's Senior
Counsellor Rangan Datta, expressed his wonder over the progress
archieved by Sri Lanka in the cooperative sector and highly appreciated
the enormous support of the Sri Lankan government for developing the
cooperative sector.
He was addressing the 9th Asia Pacific Cooperative Ministers'
Conference held at Bangkok in Thailand yesterday. He said the government
was committed to protect the cooperative sector and had provided tax
anomalies in addition to the concessions given by the Mahinda Chinthana
concept frame work.
Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando explained
the vast development achieved by the cooperative sector in Sri Lankan as
Sri Lanka was allowed to describe the functions of the cooperative
sector yesterday. The conference was being held under the supervision of
the UNO. The conference will review measures taken in pursuance of the
declarations and recommendations made during a previous Asia Pacific
conference of Cooperative Ministers' Conference held at Kuala Lumpur. |
