The difficult area allowance for Wildlife Conservation Department (WCD)
field officers has been increased to Rs 2,500 from Rs 500, WCD Director
General H D Ratnayake told the Daily News yesterday.
He observed that this increment has been made after 24 years. He
noted that Cabinet approval has been granted for this proposal. He said
that wildlife guards and wildlife assistant range officers who are in
the field are entitled to this allowance. They have been promoted from
MN1 category to PL2 category in the salary scale to facilitate this
increment.
Trade unions affiliated to the WCD engaged in a work to rule campaign
recently demanding that the salary anomalies issues be looked into. |
