Seetha Devi hockey team off to Singapore

Champion ladies of Kandy Seetha Devi Sports Club will leave the island this week to participate in 18th Singapore Hockey Sixes organised by Singapore Cricket Club which will be held at Padang Singapore on March 3 and 4.

Twenty four teams from countries like Singapore, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka participate in this tournament.

When Seetha Devi Sports Club participated in this tournament 2010, they finished Cup runner-up. This year they will be fielding a strong outfit with several national players in their fold who played for the Navy Ladies Team in the all island hockey tournament.

The team will be captained by Chathurika Wijesuriya whose power play lifted the fortunes of the Navy Ladies Team when she slammed four hat-tricks in a single tournament. The other members are Madura Dharmaratne, Jeewanthi Keerthiratne, Manisha Dissanayake, Buddhika Nelum Kumari Gunaratne (SL Navy Ladies Team Captain), Vajira Rajapakse, Sandhya Dayananda, Harshani Kumari, Pavithra Wickremasinghe, (Manageress) Coach M.A.M. Ashroff.
