Hotel room death:
suspect arrested

The Police arrested a suspect yesterday morning in connection with
the murder of the woman in a hotel in Kollupitiya whose body with stab
injuries was found on Tuesday in the hotel room a few days after
committing the crime.
Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said following investigations the
suspect was arrested near Durdans Hospital around 7 am yesterday.
Police said the suspect was a 48 year old Tamil person in Kollupitiya.
The Police said the suspect was a divorced person. He was a father of
two. Police said that he admitted to committing the crime. He is being
questioned by several special teams. The suspect also had been to
foreign countries including India.
Police also stated that the victim Kanagasabe Sudarshani Sahila, a 48
year old woman was found dead in the hotel room in Kollupitiya with stab
injuries by the hotel staff. The Police stated that the woman might have
been killed between February 23 and February 28. The woman checked into
the hotel on February 23 with the suspect.
Police said the details of the suspect was collected by the Police.
Kollupitiya OIC CI Mangala Dehideniya received information that the
suspect was living at a location near Durdans Hospital. A Police party
immediately was dispatched to arrest the suspect. The Police said the
woman had come to Sri Lanka in the second week of January from the UK.
The hotel staff became suspicious as the door of the room was
continuously closed for a few days and was opened with the spare key.
They found the woman dead in the room with stab injuries.
