My Wish Foundation - Information Morning
The My Wish Foundation has organized an 'Information Morning' to
allow Sri Lankan citizens eager to give back and help their community,
to participate in a 3 hour session to understand how the My Wish
Foundation is helping to improve terminally-ill children's lives and how
you in turn can help these children and their families in Sri Lanka.
This is scheduled to take place on March 04 at 9.30 am at the Mahaweli
Auditorium, 96, Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 7.
'My Wish Information Morning,' aims at demonstrating how generous
public donations are used to benefit lots of children who are affected
by terminal illnesses such as cancer each year and to make their wishes
come true. 'We will be welcoming volunteers to aid us in this worthy
cause. All the help and guidance you need on how to approach sensitive
situations which could arise when helping these children and their
parents, will be delivered to you by the "My Wish Information Morning"
workshop, an organizer said.
My Wish Foundation is a registered charity which was established in
2009 to provide terminally ill children and their families with
comprehensive financial and emotional support. First Lady Mrs Shiranthi
Rajapaksa, is a patron of the charity and has been the first ever
charity in Sri Lanka to grant a wish to a child with life threatening
medical conditions, he further explained.
My Wish Foundation also aims to enrich the lives of all those
involved, from the children and their families, the volunteers to the
sponsors and often entire communities.
We are currently in the process of building a Cancer Support Centre.
This proposed support Centre would offer mothers a shelter to relax for
a few hours and would also be a place where trained 'play therapists'
will offer activities for children and where children and their mothers
would be provided with much needed emotional support, a My Wish
Foundation source said.
My Wish Foundation is contactable on 0777999169.
