IAEA mandated to promote peaceful use of nuclear energy - Iran
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the sole
international organisation mandated to promote peaceful use of nuclear
energy for peace and prosperity all over the world. It is therefore a
matter for regret that certain countries are aiming to turn it into a UN
watch-dog and a subsidiary body of the UN Security Council to deprive
developing countries of their inalienable right for peaceful use of
nuclear energy as enshrined in the IAEA statute, said a press release
from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran dated February 28.
The release said; “The one sidedly partisan attitude of the IAEA on
the use of nuclear energy by the developing countries and its
capitulation in the face of western pressure has become more evident
with the way it treats the Iranian nuclear energy programme which Iran
has repeatedly claimed that its nuclear programme, including the
enrichment of uranium, is for producing energy for peaceful purposes and
treating cancer patients and all the other necessary medical treatments.
“Despite the explanation of Iran that its nuclear programme is only
to generate electricity, the western camps led by the US comes out with
the baseless accusation that Iranians are trying to make nuclear
weapons. |
