Treasure hunters arrested with metal Buddha statue

Three treasure hunters were arrested by the Police in Rideegama along with a metal Buddha statue on Wednesday evening.

Rideegama Police arrested the suspects with the Buddha statue weighing 360g. Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the Police also seized a 12 bore gun in the possession of the suspects.

Other implements used to dig the treasure were also seized.

The suspects were digging the treasure in a land called Kunumulla Watta, Pallehorombuwa in Rideegama.
