Man burnt to death

A body of a man who died of burnt injuries was found in a paddy field in Ullapola, Mahawa on Monday. D M Piyadasa, a resident of Palamu Gedara, Ullapola had left home around 3 am on February 27. When he did not return, his family had searched for him and found his burnt body on a heap of straw in a paddy field near his home. Mahawa police are investigating.

CSD sub-warden dead

A Civil Security Department sub-warden died when he was entangled and shot by a trap gun in Rajinigala forest reserve in Sinhapura. Police said J A Sarath Jayawardana was on duty at Sinhapura and had gone to the forest reserve to collect timber. Welikanda police are investigating.

Body found

A body of a man who was between 45 and 50 years was found in a forest in Suhandagama in Horowpothana on Monday. Investigations revealed that the victim had died several days ago and the body was in a decomposed state. Police also found a cup, a plastic bottle and a knife at the scene. Horowpothana police are investigating.

Man and boy killed in collision

A three wheeler- bus collision in Kelaniya claimed two lives and injured three others on Monday. The three-wheeler was heading from Kadawatha to Colombo when the the private bus hit it severely injuring the driver and the boy.

They succumbed to their injuries at the Colombo National Hospital. Peliyagoda police arrested the bus driver and are continuing investigations.
