Police are trying to trace the person who occupied the room in a
hotel in Kollupitiya in which a woman was found dead with stab wounds by
hotel staff on Tuesday.
It is suspected that the crime was committed a few days before the
discovery of the body.
Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said investigations revealed
certain details of the person in question and the Police are trying to
trace his whereabouts.
He said that the victim Kanagasabe Sudarshani Sahila, a woman aged
48, was found dead in the hotel room with stab injuries by the hotel
staff.
The Police believe the woman might have been killed between February
23 and 28. According to the Police, the woman had checked in at the
hotel on February 23 with another person. She had come to Sri Lanka in
the second week of January from the United Kingdom.
The room door was closed for a few days which aroused the suspicion
of the hotel staff who opened the door with a spare key and found the
body with stab injuries.
