Maldives seeks SL support to uplift youth affairs

The Maldivian government has sought the support of the Sri Lankan
government to uplift youth affairs in the Maldives, a Youth Affairs and
Skills Development Ministry official said yesterday.

Shareef who met Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas
Alahapperuma at the ministry recently, had praised the way Sri Lanka
handles youth affairs and skills development, the spokesman said.
"The main objective of my visit to Sri Lanka is to get ideas and
suggestions of the Sri Lankan Youth Affairs and Skills Development
minister to uplift the standards of Maldivian youths," Minister Shareef
said.
Minister Alahapperuma said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa brought
all institutions related to youths under the purview of the Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Ministry to provide a better service for
the betterment of Sri Lankan youths.
"All development activities of the ministry are being carried out
under the guidance of the President," he said.
The minister also said that the ties between two countries are very
strong and Sri Lanka will gives its fullest support to the Maldivian
government.
The Maldivian minister requested Minister Alahapperuma to participate
in the Maldivian National Youth Festival which will be held in August.
