Array of dazzling features for all

'Ananda Abiman 2012' - the 125th anniversary exhibition of Ananda
College, Colombo will be held from March 26 to 31 at the college
premises.
During the event's official launch at the college hall on Monday,
Principal L M D Dharmasena said that the educational, cultural and trade
exhibition would be one where various branches of the Ananda family will
come together to display their potential in invention and innovation.

The exhibition is the culmination of an array of events organised by
the college stakeholders in celebration of the education colossus, that
is Ananda, turning 125.
The pinnacle of these events was the ceremony organised by the OBA
with President Mahinda Rajapaksa participating as the chief guest, where
a commemorative coin was launched and a song for the 125th year
celebrations was released.
The exhibition titled Diyatha Jaya Nadana Anada Viskam - Magnetizing
the globe through phenomena of Ananda, is conducted with the main
objective of molding Anandianans with a totally creative insight to meet
future challenges of the fast moving world, courageously and
confidently. The organisers promise a variety of dazzling features for
visitors with over 1,000 exhibits, cultural shows and a large number of
stalls in the trade fair on display.
The Anada Abiman 2012 will be held under seven categories namely,
educational attractions, sports, cultural, entertainment, aesthetic,
military strategies and trade fair. While wonders of science,
technology, mathematics, commerce, arts etc would be on display in the
form of exhibits invented and innovated by college students, various
sports events too would provide entertainment and knowledge to the
guests.
The organizers also promises a range of cultural and aesthetic events
in line with the customs and traditions of the land including
traditional dances such as Sokary, puppet show, kolam and some famous
classic stage drama's and musical shows.
The Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Civil Defence Force
would showcase their military acumen.
The trade fair would consist items from delicious food to latest
designer clothes and technical gadgets, fresh fruit and vegetables, and
exotic plants and flowers, according to organisers who promise something
for every one.
A propaganda campaign using prime locations near the school and
surrounding areas would be carried out with advertising space too being
available for sponsors, prior to and after the exhibition.
Principal Dharmasena said that this was not another fun fair, but an
event targeting many facets in relation to the development activities of
the school, both physically and academically.
The funds raised, the Principal explained, would be used for further
expanding education facilities for students with a language lab, IT
library and other activities being planned.
The event is jointly organized by the students and the teachers of
the college, the OBA and other stakeholders.
