Launching of 'Handy Perinbanayagam' and 'The Jaffna Youth Congress'
The book launch of ‘Handy Perinbanayagam - A Memorial Volume’ and
‘The Jaffna Youth Congress’ (in Sinhala, Tamil and English), edited by
Santasilan Kadirgamar will be held at 5.30 pm on Sunday (March 4) at
Saraswathy Hall, Lorensz Road, Bambalapitiya. The High Commissioner of
India,Ashok K. Kantha will be the Chief Guest. Event includes ‘A Homage
to Gandhi’ presented by the Nirmalanjali School of Dance.
Speakers for the event will be A.Kandasamy (Chairman), Tissa
Jayatilaka, B. Skantha Kumar, Namini Wijedasa, Prof.S.Thillainathan,
Prof. Saba Jeyarasa, Prof. Sucharith Gamlath and Dr.M.A.Mohamed Saleem
Galle Music Festival at the Samanala grounds
The Galle Music Festival will be held on March 3 and 4 at the
Samanala grounds, Galle bringing together musicians from around the
island for a free two day open air event of music.
The day time programme will be from 10 am to 1 pm and the evening
programme will be from 5 pm to 10.30 pm.
This festival will focus on folk and contemporary music with an
emphasis on the diverse and multi cultural folk traditions of Sri Lanka
such as sanni yakuma, kolam, rookada, sampradaika jana gee, kaffer manja
and many more.
International folk such as Chhayanaut Baouls from Bangladesh, Raghu
Dixit Project from India and contemporary musicians such as Sangeeth
Bhawana, Evolution, Centigradz along with many others will also add to
the exciting line up of local musical performances.
Galle Music Festival's interactive Children's Day will include
drumming, dancing and singing workshops especially designed for
children.
Children will be able to visit their favourite folk village hut,
whether it be local or international.

Inde-pendence Programme, the Embilipitiya pro-bationary office
