Weedicide in water tank

The government analyst who examined the sample of water sent from the water tank of the Sevanagala Hospital DMOs official residence has reported that the water contained traces of the weedicide named MCPA.

The water sample was sent to the Government Analyst by the Sevanagala Police investigating a complaint made by the DMO Dr. Chaminda Vitharana that poison had been mixed in his water tank by a minor employee at the behest of another doctor colleague.The minor employee in question arrested by the Sevanagala Police was produced before the Embilipitiya Magistrate and remanded till February 23.

The suspect doctor who earlier fled the area later surrendered to police through a lawyer.

Dr. Vitharana, his wife and two children who had consumed the water from the tank are now undergoing medical examinations.
