The first ever Africa-Asia telecommunication regulatory conference was held in Colombo recently with the participation of several foreign and local experts in the telecommunication sector under the theme Emerging Regulatory Challenges and Opportunities.

It was organized jointly by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).

The inaugural session drew its attention on several issues concerning telecommunication regulation. The forum suggested remedies to overcome several barriers and challenges in the telecommunication sector. The conference further discussed ways and means to develop the telecommunication sector to meet the present day demands and probable challenges relating to the telecommunication sector.

The participants of the opening session introduced the latest innovations for the telecommunication sector .
