"With the vision of the Government is to make Sri Lanka a Healthcare
hub in the South Asia region, the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri
Lanka in partnership with the Ministry of Health will hold Arogya 2012
International Healthcare Exhibition and Medical Symposium from August 17
to 19 at the BMICH. The main objective is to promote Sri Lanka as a
health hub, and promote medical tourism, create awareness of advanced
treatment, and new products/services among the general public
professionals, students and tourists. This could also provide a common
platform for buyers, sellers and investors in the healthcare sector, and
making the facilities available for indigenous medical education in Sri
Lanka for students from neighboring countries", Arogya Chairman Sujeiva
Samaraweera said.
Many countries promote their hospitals and healthcare as
destinations, likewise Sri Lanka is a local hub and has the ideal
location to attract foreign students. Our rates are lower than the other
countries, has professional doctors specialized in various fields to
support tutorial activity. This could help Sri Lanka to be positioned as
a medical tourist destination. The Exhibition will also give an
opportunity to our medical professionals to exchange ideas and new
developments in the medical field through the Medical Symposium which
will be held simultaneously, and conducted by renowned medical
personalities from various countries and locally as well, Samaraweera
said.
The National Chamber invites Insurance Companies in Sri Lanka to
participate at the exhibition and showcase their new products and
services and new developments in this field. An ideal opportunity to
showcase local products connected to the medical industry such as,
pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and medical support services.
This year the exhibitor profiles include Hospitals and Clinics,
Laboratory services, Health and IT, Health Insurance, Leisure sports,
medical tourism, physiotherapy and Beauty care and Health sector special
projects managed by the Government and NGOs. Several companies from
Asian and Western countries are expected to participate. Professionals
in the health sector, local and foreign, buyers and sellers, Academics
and students, investors and foreign delegations, too are expected
