Cairn India wins Blue Dart
GlobaL CSR Awards 2012:
Cairn India, the country's leading upstream oil and gas company, won
the Blue Dart Global CSR Award for 'Best Corporate Social Responsibility
Practice Overall' at a glittering ceremony on February 18 at Taj Lands
End, Mumbai. The Union Minister of Corporate Affairs Dr. M. Veerappa
Moily presented the global CSR awards, which was part of the first World
CSR Day.
Cairn Lanka which is a subsidiary of Cairn India is currently engaged
in oil exploration at Mannar basin and was successful in drilling
operations where discovery of oil and gas including natural gas was
made. It is in the process of ascertaining the commercial viability of
the findings.
With the theme of CSR - 'A way forward and public-private partnership
for a greener planet', the Global CSR Awards recognized the
organizations that have made a significant and positive impact on the
lives of people around them.
The global CSR award aims at assessing the extent of integration of
CSR concerns with corporate functioning, responsiveness to the needs of
different stakeholders and development of innovative models to fulfill
social responsibilities.
Cairn India, dedicated to the highest standards of corporate social
responsibility, bagged the award for its sustained contribution in India
towards community development initiatives across its operations in
Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, that has impacted lives of
thousands of people.
Some of the successful community programmes of Cairn India includes
the Cairn Enterprise Centre, Cairn India Dairy Development programme,
Room to Read (Library Programme), Science on Wheel, Theatre in
Education, Mobile Health Vans, General Health Awareness Camps and Micro
Vendor Programme.
