Certificate Course on Shipping Law and Practice
ICLP inaugurates second programme:
The second programme of the ICLP-CCC Certificate Course on Shipping
Law and Practice was inaugurated on February 12 at the ICLP Arbitration
Centre in the presence of Justice P.A. Ratnayeke PC and ICLP Secretary
General S.S. Wijeratne, along with the members of the faculty. The
course will be going on for 4-5 months every Sunday at ICLP Arbitration
Centre, Colombo 3.
ICLP in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC),
launched the ICLP-CCC Certificate Course on Shipping Law and Practice
this January with the objective of enhancing the capacities of the
interested shipping personnel, Attorneys-at-Law etc.
The lecture panel includes eminent professionals from both legal and
the shipping industry covering the areas-Maritime Law, Carriage of goods
by sea, Admiralty Law, international trade, port operations, marine
insurance and custom formalities.
The Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP),
of which the primary objective is promoting healthy principles and
practices for the advancement of Commercial Law, offers comprehensive
courses to cater to the needs of the commercial world. Diploma in
Commercial Arbitration, ICLP-CCC Certificate Course on Shipping Law &
Practice, and adhoc seminars are conducted by the institute in keeping
with the said objective.
The ICLP Diploma in Commercial Arbitration is an ongoing programme
since 2004, designed to develop an understanding of Arbitration Law and
procedure among the interested professionals such as Attorneys-at-Law,
Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Architects etc. The ICLP has so far
produced nearly two hundred and fifty Diploma holders since 2004. The
ninth intake of the Diploma will commence this October.
These training programmes would create an extra mile of the
respective careers of the participants and would definitely advance the
competence of the professions they serve. |
