Rain hinders Benedict’s- Sylvester’s match

Rain severely curtailed in the inter-school cricket match between St
Bendict’s College, Kotahena and St Sylvester’s College, Kandy which
ended in a no decision at Rangiri Dambulu International Cricket Stadium,
Dambulla yesterday.
On the first day there was no play after lunch. On the second day,
wet ground conditions did not permit play till 2.45 pm. Benedictines
continuing their overnight score of 101 for 6 declared at 179 for 9
after batting for 57 overs.
Janitha Karunatilleke 59 and Sachith Perera 50 not out were the main
scorers. Spinner Nimesha Mendis took 4 for 61.
The Sylvestrians in their turn at the wickets fared disastrously on a
treacherous wicket and were 31 for 3 after batting for 32 overs when the
match ended.
St Benedict’s College: 101 for 6 overnight continued 179 for 9
declared in 57 overs (Janitha Karunatilleke 57, Sachith Perera 50,
Nimesha Mendis 4 for 61, Sumedha Dissanayake 3 for 65).
St Sylvester’s College: 31 for 3 wickets in 32 overs (Indunil
Samarananda 14 n.o, Jason Perera 1 for 8, Yohan Zoysa 1 for 11). |
