Jayawardena's leaderhip comes in for high praise
A game that Sri Lanka could easily have won was
taken away by Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the Lankans
had to be satisfied with a tie,that still keeps them in the picture
for a shot at the finals. To the credit of Mahela Jayawardena and
his set of fighters it must be said that they have kept the interest
in the tournament alive by taking every game to the wire, which has
come in for high praise.

‘Caveman alert!’ - Chabal set for Australia
Ex-France No 8 Sebastien Chabal is set to take
the next step on his career following his sacking from Racing-Metro
by playing in Australia with lowly Balmain. Chabal, sacked from the
Parisian-based Top 14 club earlier this month after falling out with
coach Pierre Berbizier, will make a one-game cameo for Balmain
against Petersham on February 25 as a curtain-raiser to a Waratahs v
Reds game.

Rain hinders Benedict’s- Sylvester’s match
Rain severely curtailed in the inter-school
cricket match between St Bendict’s College, Kotahena and St
Sylvester’s College, Kandy which ended in a no decision at Rangiri
Dambulu International Cricket Stadium, Dambulla yesterday. On the
first day there was no play after lunch. On the second day, wet
ground conditions did not permit play till 2.45 pm. Benedictines
continuing their overnight score of 101 for 6 declared at 179 for 9
after batting for 57 overs.
