Akbar concludes Formula McLarens 1300cc training camp on a high note

The training programme for young Formula drivers, conducted by FIA qualified Trainer from India, Akbar Ebrahim, concluded on a successful note at the Pannala Formula Racing Track.

Twenty Six contenders, including three females, participated in this programme, which was organized by Speed Drome, and ran over two days, during which theory and practical training sessions were conducted.

An elated Ebrahim said that all participants had performed beyond his expectations, which enabled him to conduct the programme according to schedule.

He observed that these young Drivers are highly talented and, most of them have taken driving seriously. His advice was that they should improve on the basics learnt during the programme, as well as learn from each event they compete in, whilst at the same time mastering the finer aspects of Motor Racing.

As Speed Drome is equipped with only ten McLarens Formula cars, Ebrahim served as a Selector of the ten top Drivers who will participate in the Speed Championship 2012.

The ten Drivers who clocked the fastest timings at the end of the training programme were selected, and will participate at the first Race Meet scheduled for the 12th February, with Qualifying Timings on the February 11, 2012, at the same venue.

Whilst thanking Akbar Ebrahim profusely for taking time off his busy schedule to conduct this programme in Sri Lanka, Dinesh Jayawardana, head of Speed Drome said that it would be possible for more Drivers to participate in this category from the middle of the year as they intended to increase the number of cars by a further ten.

Following are the ten drivers who came up with the fastest timings, at the qualifying round which was conducted after the training programme by Akbar Ebrahim, thus qualifying to participate in Speed Championship 2012 in the Formula McLaresn 1300cc category
