Tourism Zones to be created in Mullaitivu

The Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority has commenced feasibility studies to
develop Tourism Zones at the lagoons of Kokilai and Nayaru in the
Mullaitivu District, Irrigation and Water Management Minister Nimal
Siripala de Silva said.
The Authority has drawn up plans to attract local and foreign
tourists for these areas, he said. These areas belong to the Mahaweli
Authority L zone. Under the project, around 500 hectares will be
developed, he said.
Around three decades, these areas were ruled bythe LTTE. The
government has commenced many development programmes in these areas.
Road development projects are being implemented in the Mullaitivu
town. Programmes are also implemented to provide drinking water and
electricity in these areas, he said.
