SLIIT students transfer to SEMO, USA
Fourth batch to SEMO with officials at the farewell ceremony

Twenty one students from Sri Lanka Institute Information Technology (SLIIT)
recently transferred to Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), USA
to complete their degrees in electrical engineering, telecommunication
and networking and computer science and cyber security. With the
assistance rendered by the facilitator of this transfer programme,
Progressive Academy Managing Director Janaka Herath, these students were
the fourth batch to transfer from SLIIT to SEMO and were awarded
scholarships worth of US $ 4,500 to complete their final two years of
study at SEMO.
A farewell was held for these students at the SLIIT Malabe Campus
with the participation of, SLIIT President and CEO Prof. Lalith Gamage,
SLIIT Chairman Prof. Sam Karunarathne, SLIIT Dean, Research, Dr. Koliya
Pulasingha, SLIIT Manager Career Guidance and Counsellor, Deepa
Liyanagma, SLIIT Management Executive Madurangi Adipola, the 21 transfer
students and Progressive Academy (Pvt) Ltd Director Chamindi Herath and
MD and CEO Janaka Herath. This collaboration between SLIIT and SEMO
provides Sri Lankan students a golden opportunity to complete their
first two years of study at SLIIT and obtain a highly recognized US
Degree at an accredited State university in the US at a very affordable
cost which is maintained closer to US $ 6000 per an academic year.
This has become the most popular transfer programme among the SLIIT
students which will result in significantly large numbers of students
departing to the USA.
