President inaugurates construction work of Sada Hiru Ceya brick wall
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday inaugurated the construction
work of the brick wall for the Sada Hiru Ceya which is being built to
symbolize the sacrifice made by the members of the Security Forces to
safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This Ceya
is to be built in every province of the country.

The construction of brick wall of the Ceya under the second stage of
the project was inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa amid the
chanting of Seth Pirith by members of the Maha Sangha and Sabdha Pooja
by 200 drummers on Saturday in keeping with all rites and rituals
followed for the construction of Ceya in the past.
This Ceya is built in the Mahamevuna Uyana and the construction of
its foundation has been complete. It is 244 feet in height and the
diameter is 215 feet. Officials believe that it would require more than
40 million to complete the Ceya.
This is an initiative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the
construction is carried out under the close supervision of Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Security Forces personnel are providing manpower for the construction
of the nine Ceyas with financial assistance from philanthropists.
