Chamil and Madushika Carrom champions

Chamil Cooray and Madushika Kanchanamala won the men's and women's singles titles in the 24th Federation Cup Carrom Championship which concluded at the new carrom federation premises in Maharagama recently.

Chamil beat D. N. Fernando 25-7, 25-1 in the men's final without much trouble while Madushika defeated Joseph Roshita after tough contest in the women's final 25-16, 23-25, 25-23. Roshita came back strongly after losing the first game 25-16 and won the second game. Madushika played with all her skills in the third set to beat her opponent in an exciting final.

M. Sherifdeen and Chalani Lakmali secured the third place in men's and women's singles events in order.

The tournament was continued for four weeks and record number of entries were received for the women's tournament, numbering 115. Altogether over 350 entries were received for the 24th Federation Cup tournament.

The next tournament will be the 44th National Carrom Championship 2012 and will commence from February 18.
