Coffee, fashion and passion to conserve nature

Tucked in Colombo 07, the latest coffee shop, D'Cafe is just around the corner from the Lionel Wendt and is already becoming a stop-and-grab-a-bite for coffeeholics and foodies alike.

D'Cafe serves a range of Illy Coffee-based hot and cold beverages as well as fresh juices. For those interested in a quick bite or a leisurely meal, there's a range of scrumptious sandwiches, burgers, fresh salads and Italian favourites such as Spaghetti and Lasagna.

"We're proud to say that we are part of a bigger picture, and an important one", D'Cafe publicist Alena Drdlova said. D'Cafe is another crazy venture by The 7th Frontier, a MarCom agency. Our CSR project KumbukRiver is an eco-lodge in Buttala which follows sustainable tourism precepts, she added further.

The lodge which has won the World Travel Award for World's Best Eco Lodge is a legend in itself. Employing the youth of the adjoining Dambeyaya village to build the massive elephant-shaped resort, KumbukRiver aids rural development by providing employment and supporting rural livelihoods. As a haven for local bio-diversity, KumbukRiver is a hub for conserving the surrounding environs and its inhabitants.

"D'Cafe as well as its sister store D'divas act as funding arms for this. This way, city folk are able to tie-in on important issues, while sipping a coffee," Drdlova adds.

D'divas is on the storey above D'Cafe; a Limited-Edition fashion boutique catering to the exclusive clothing needs of Colombo's finest. The range is a superlative collection of casual, office and evening wear designed in-house with elegant lines and classy cuts.

Having been the fashion scene for some time now, D'divas has actively funded KumbukRiver efforts, acting as chief supporter to the venture.
