Spreading peace and love

Yashen and Ashane began as friends who knew each other from the earlier days of their school life. They played for a number of school events, parties and musical concerts with many other bands till they found Thushan (brother of Yashen) as the lead guitarist.

After few months Suneth and Gihan from the Mahanama College eastern orchestra joined in. They all studied at the same school and they all loved reggae music and in 2010 came to become the Octaves.

With the influence of their idols such as Bob marley, Third World, UB40 and Jayasri, all members of the band go through different music clashes like ska, reggae, traditional Asian (Sri Lankan, Indian) and African and rock music.

After a year of experience, Octaves came up with their first concert which they organized in December 2011. They received many comments and were able to gain a good audience of their own.

Their upcoming concert Esperanza will be held on February 3 organized by the Rotoract club of the University of Colombo.

They are planing to do many reggae concerts in Sri Lanka spreading the message of peace, love and unity.
