Special team to nab road rule offenders

The Colombo City Traffic has deployed a special Traffic Police team to nab jaywalkers and people parking vehicles on pavements. Traffic Administration and Road Safety Traffic Operation Senior DIG Asoka Wijetilleka directed Traffic Police units to comply with the traffic laws and arrest persons who violate traffic laws.

"Any person violating traffic laws will be arrested and produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Courts," said Colombo City Traffic Director Senior SP Chula de Silva.

"Accidents have increased due to jaywalking while parking vehicles on pavements has become a menace to pedestrians," SSP de Silva said.
