Trinity in box seat

Trinity College look set for their sixth outright win in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match against Sri Sumangala College, Panadura which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 am.

Trinity College batting first ran up a huge 308 for 9 declared in only 54 overs scoring at over 5 runs per over.

Ron Chandragupta top scored with 82. Bhaghya Palihawadana made 60.

At close, the Sri Sumangalians had replied with 164 for 9 and have to make a further 44 runs to avoid the follow on.

Medium pacer Alwin Fernando has so far captured 5 for 24.

Trinity College 308 for 9 declared in 54 overs.

Niroshan Dickwella 38, Dinuk Wickramanayake 48, Bhaghya Palihawadana 60, Ron Chandragupta 82, A Tharaka 3 for 89, S Arun 5 for 59).

Sri Sumangala College: 164 for 9 wickets in 39 overs (Kushan Akalanka 34, Aruna Dharmasena 50, Anju Tharaka 51, Amrith Srimohan 2 for 46, Alwin Fernando 5 for 24).
