St Anthony’s College, Kandy is in a healthy position against the last weekend giant killers Prince of Wales College in their inter-schools under-19 cricket encounter worked off at Moratuwa.

Taking the first lease, the visitors declared at 276 for 9 with Manoj Sarathchandra completing an elegant 119 runs which included twelve hits to the rope and four overs. Sharuka Dulaj and Nimesh Kumara captured 4 for 91 and 4 for 93 respectively.

Cambrians had a disastrous start losing their four front line batsmen for seven runs but Kusal Mendis and Crishen Aponso were able to stop the havoc and at the end of day one Cambrians were 86 for 5 with Kusal Mendis unbeaten on 59 runs with nine fours. Kusal Mendis and Crishen Aponso 22 put on 79 runs for the fifth wicket. Anthonian skipper U K B Ranaraja was the most successful bowler for the visitors with 4 for 11.
