PC's killing : two arrested

The Kandy Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday arrested a police constable and a three wheel driver on suspicion in connection with the murder of police constable , Anura Bandara ,(39), a father of two attached to the Minor Offenses Branch of the Kandy Police.

The suspect was arrested when he was on duty at the Kytes Police station by a special police team sent from Kandy.

The three wheel driver was arrested while he was at the three wheel park opposite the Kandy central market. Police suspect that Bandara was killed as a result of an illicit affair with a woman in the region. Police have recovered the alleged weapon used in the killing. Kandy Police under the supervision of Kandy DIG H.N.B.Abanwala are investigating.

The victim's body was found at Wakarawatte, Kandy with a number of injuries on his body and the face.

The post postmortem revealed that the death was due to severe head injuries caused by assault.
