Two nabbed for theft from doctor's house

Two men, one an Army Corporal, were arrested by Ingiriya Police for
allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 230,000 and valuables from a
doctor's house in Handapangoda, Bandarawatta.
The Police also seized the jewellery from a pawning center in
Homagama.
Ingiriya Police arrested one suspect on suspicion. When questioning
the suspect, the Police found a pawning receipt in his possession. Upon
interrogation, he had informed the Police about the robbery.
The suspect had told the Police that four people had been involved in
the robbery. Two are Army personnel. Following this, the Police arrested
the army corporal. The other suspects are absconding.
The corporal, a father of three, is a resident of Higurakgoda and the
other is a father of one. His house is close to the doctor's house, the
Police said. Meanwhile, two men who had stolen a laptop worth over Rs 2
00,000 from a house behind the Ingiriya main bus-stand, were arrested.
The Police arrested the suspects in Handapangoda and also found the
stolen laptop. |
