'Accelerating development, aim of Deyata Kirula'

The main objective of the Deyata Kirula exhibition is to accelerate
development work and bestow a prosperous new Sri Lanka to the nation,
said Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
He said so when he attended a ceremony held at the Deyata Kirula
exhibition grounds to mark the distribution of roofing tiles among low
income families on Sunday.
Nearly, 2,500 low income group families in the Anuradhapura West
electorate received roofing tiles at this ceremony as part of a
programme to provide roofing tiles free of charge to 50,000 families in
the region.
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said residents in Anuradhapura
district underwent untold suffering at the hands of LTTE terrorists
during the period of the conflict.
It was to accelerate development work in the Anuradhapura district
and bring prosperity to the affected people that President Mahinda
Rajapaksa brought the Deyata Kirula exhibition to the Anuradhapura
district.
He said the President never allowed differences as to community,
caste or creed to obstruct the government development programmes.
He said buildings at the Oyamaduwa Deyata Kirula exhibition grounds
would never be neglected after the conclusion of the exhibition as
arrangements have been made to transform the exhibition grounds into an
employment generation centre for youth.
Among the projects to commence in the venue after the conclusion of
the exhibition will be a garment factory, vocational training centres
and technical colleges for imparting new technology to youth.
Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S M Chandrasena NCP Chief
Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake and Irrigation and Water Management
Deputy Minister W B Ekanayake also spoke.
Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister and President,
Deyata Kirula exhibition committee Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Deputy
Minister Duminda Dissanayake, Parliamentarian Shehan Semasinghe and
Anuradhapura GA Mahinda Seneviratne were also present. |
