National Council for the Training of Journalists, UK (NTCJ) Chief Executive Officer Joanne Butcher called on Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at his office on January 11. The NTCJ delivers a premier training scheme for journalists in the UK. Established
in 1951, it is dedicated to providing a world-class education and training system that develops current and future journalists for the demands of a fast-changing multimedia industry. Butcher is in Sri Lanka to assist the working party set up by the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) which is developing a new professional qualification for journalists in Sri Lanka. She exchanged views on media training and the present media landscape in the UK with Minister Rambukwella. SLPI CEO Imran Furkan and the minister’s private secretary Brigadier J P A Jayawardena are also in the picture.
