Beruwala to become an attractive city
All measures are in place to develop Beruwala as an attractive city
by 2013 by completing all electricity, water and road development
projects.
The government has allocated Rs.1,370 million on water supply
projects in the Beruwala electorate as well, Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.
According to the minister they had spent over Rs.10 million on
electricity projects in 2010.
The minister was addressing the opening ceremony of electricity
projects in Walathara, Heralaththuduwa and Payagala areas in Beruwala
recently. "We will spent around Rs.200 million on road carpeting
projects this year. Rs.150 million has been spent on roads last year as
well. Accordingly, all arrangements have been made to complete all road
development projects in the electorate," the minister said.
In addition, all arrangements are in place to implement a large
number of development projects in Beruwala. The first Sri Lankan marine
and international level exhibition centre in Beruwala is one of the
development projects.
A housing project will also be initiated in Beruwala this year. Under
the first step of this project, 1,000 houses will be built. Twenty one
sports grounds will be developed. Around 5,000 employment opportunities
will be provided through these development projects. RD |
