Liberal Party anniversary

The Liberal Party will celebrate its 25th anniversary on January 20 with a seminar on the contribution of the party to Sri Lankan politics.

This will take place at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies and will be accompanied by the launch of 'The Liberal Party of Sri Lanka; History, Philosophy, Presentations'.

Govt withdraws Pension Bills

The government yesterday withdrew Employees’ Pension Benefits Fund Bill, Overseas Employees Pension Benefits Fund Bill and Pensions (Consequential Provisions) Bill which were included in the Order Paper for the second reading.

Leader of the House and Irrigation and Water Resources Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva made this announcement at the commencement of public business of Parliament.
