Students claim turning point in universities

A team of independent university students pledged to make a turning point in universities aiming to save university education from the devastation of certain political movements, including Inter University Students' Federation.

A coalition of independent university students has formed an organization named 'Harauma' (a turning point) to safeguard the university system from certain politically motivated extremists, National Convener of the Harauma Organization Ukthi Ekadeera said.

As a result of the activities of certain politically motivated students' movements, several universities have been closed. The motive of these students' groups is to create issues in universities as those uncertain situations are needed for such students' movements to attract followers, Ekadeera said.

"As the outcome of these situations, the university system has been badly affected. The Harauma Organization was formed to bring the university system to proper track creating an educational atmosphere. All university students are invited to join hands with the Harauma Organization considering it a national task" Ekadeera said.
