'Action against those disrupting work'
'Honest public servants who discharge their duties for the benefit of
the people should be allowed to do their work freely and if anybody is
going to threaten or intimidate them, stern action would be taken
against those responsible for such behaviour, said Kamburupitiya
co-ordinating committee chairman and Matara district MP Hemal
Gunasekara.
He was speaking at the recently held meeting of the Kamburupitiya
co-ordinating committee held at Kamburupitiya Divisional Secretariat
auditorium.
Gunasekara said the OIC Kamburupitiya Police and Divisional Secretary
of Kamburupitiya are both doing good work for the benefit of the people
and those trying to sabotage their good work by making false allegations
against them should be severely dealt with.
He said during the last year Rs 600 million had been spent for the
development programme of Kamburupitiya and Rs 800 million is to be spent
this year for further development of Kamburupitiya. He also requested
relevant departments to submit their work project proposals for 2012
before January 25.
Kamburupitiya PS Chairman Chandana Siribaddana said projects worth Rs
60 million had been spent for Kamburupitiya development activities
during last year under the Gama Neguma and Maga Neguma programmes.
This year, it has been planned to provide facilities for the
development of rural areas of Kamburupitiya under the Puranagama
programme by spending Rs 50 million.
Arrangements had also been made to erect a sports complex in a two
acre land and also implement a compost fertilizer production project.
PS members Ananda Weerasingha, Atula Weerasinghe, Vice Chairman
Sanjeewa Priyanath, SPC members D. D. Prathapasinghe, J. Kodituwakku and
Div. Secretary, Kamburupitiya S. S. Singappuli also participated.
