'Bribery Commission fully functional'

The Bribery and Corruption Investigation Commission had received
1,637 complaints in 2010, and 641 cases among them had been
investigated, Chief Government Whip and Water Supply and Drainage
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said in Parliament yesterday.
The Commission had been allocated Rs. 176.4 million in 2010.
The Minister also said that verdicts had been given to 23 cases which
were investigated in 2010.
The Minister also observed that the Commission is fully functional at
present. He made these comments in response to a question raised by UNP
MP Ravi Karunanayake.
