More jobs for Lankan workers in Korea

Measures will be taken in the near future to increase the Sri Lankan work force in Korea to 30,000 or 40,000, said Korean Parliament Speaker Park Hee Tae.

Park Hee Tae said there are 25,000 Sri Lankans working in Korea and there is a favourable attitude towards Sri Lankans' service from the Korean government and private sector.

He expressed these views during discussions with Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody at Fortress Hotel in Galle.

Park Hee Tea was impressed with the tourism industry in Sri Lanka which is on a fast track to development.

He said that European tourists are interested in visiting Sri Lanka and is a very popular destination. Deputy Speaker Weerakkody said that the Korean government has provided support to Sri Lanka's development from the past and expressed his gratitude to the Korean government.

"We hope to strengthen relations between the two countries," the Deputy Speaker said.

After the discussions, the Korean delegates including Korean Parliament Speaker were given a tour of the Galle Fort.
