Didulana rescues Cambrians

A fighting knock of 55 runs by Didulana Medis enabled Prince of Wales' College to consolidate their position in their inter-school Under-19 cricket match against Wesley College, Colombo played at Campbell Park.

Batting first Cambrians were soon in trouble and they were reeling at 111 for 7 and at this stage Didulana Medis and Thilan Nimesh were able to put an end to their havoc with an eighth wicket partnership of 48 runs with Medis occupying the crease for 127 minutes and hitting eight fours and finally Nimesh was unbeaten on 17 runs. Sudhira Fernando 23, skipper Tarindu Dilshan 21 and Shanuka Dulaj 20 were the other contributors for Cambrians while Ashen Fonseka had 2 for no runs.

Wesley College were 81 for 2 with Ashen Fonseka scoring 45 runs with eight fours.

Prince of Wales: 186 (Suchira Fernando 23, Tharindu Dilshan 21, Shanuka Dulaj 20, Didulana Medis 55, Thilan Nimesh 17 n.o, Ashail Kariyawasam 2/48, Sachin Jayawardena 2/44, Ashen Fonseka 2/0).

Wesley College: 81/2 (Ashen Fonseka 45, Sadeem Thawfeeq 20 n.o).
