Rewards for committed policemen - IGP

The Police Department will reward outstanding police officers who
show more commitment to maintaining peace in the country, every two
months.
The dedicated police officers will also be given extra marks when
they face interviews for promotions, said IGP N K Illangakoon.
He said the reward scheme will encourage the police officer to create
a peaceful environment for the people.
IGP Illangakoon was speaking at the presentation of rewards to 367
Police officers who succeeded in apprehending culprits in a number of
murder, drug trafficking, large scale scams. IGP Illangakoon presented
rewards worth Rs 13.5 million and a number of commendation letters to
367 Police personnel who had brought honour to the Police Department by
arresting and prosecuting culprits who were involved in the Karandeniya
doctor’s murder, hard drug trafficking, possession of explosives and
murderers who had killed innocent people in several parts of the
