Technical officers for islandwide services
The Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Ministry recruited new technical officers for islandwide services.
Certificates for these newcomers were handed over at the Construction
Training Development Institute auditorium by Minister Wimal Weerawansa
recently.
The minister said, two years earlier the ministry was facing almost a
crisis as there were talk of removing its employers due to financial
reasons. "Previous authorities were even pondering whether the ministry
should be abolished. Yet, today this institution has become one with
great responsibility which reaches a majority of the grass root level
communities," he said.
The minister added that unlike other ministries, this ministry is not
involved in only official matters. "We are different from others as this
ministry's main objective is to provide houses for the innocent
underprivileged people of this country," the minister said.
"A permanent house is one of the fundamental elements of the Asian
family. It binds the family and makes their relationships healthy,"
Minister Weerawansa said. "Therefore, these new officers have an
exceptional responsibility than a mere employer who work eight hours a
day," he noted. |
