Health Ministry officials will inspect all households and issue a
special card to keep a record, with regard to cleaning of households
during the National Mosquito Control Week which begins on January 16.
According to Health Ministry Additional Secretary Dr Palitha Mahipala,
the ministry has planned to give more teeth to the Mosquito Breeding
Control Act No 12 of 2007.
According to Dr. Mahipala, the inspection teams will use the card to
record the condition of the specific property/premises and the buildings
if there are any. Red notices will be issued to mosquito breeders.
Once the inspection teams record a dengue mosquito breeding site, the
card holders (owners of the property/premises/buildings) should clean
the mosquito breeding site. If not action will be taken against them
during the post-inspection.
Dr. Mahipala pointed out that during the week, one MOH division will
be divided into seven zones and one zone to be inspected on one day.
Health authorities, Armed Forces and many others will take part in the
inspection process. |
