Three-wheeler exploitation
I halted a three-wheeler equipped with a brand new taxi metre, to
travel a short distance. As I got in, the driver regulated the metre,
and the fare was displayed prominently Rs 50.
When I questioned he said “Rs 50 for the first kilo metre” - but
before he could move, he received a call on his mobile phone and the
vehicle was stationary, but the metre was ticking. One minute – two
minutes – the metre registered Rs 51 and Rs 52.
Even before he started the journey, he had the audacity to demand the
fare. Why do these drivers exploit people?
