First innings win for St. Aloysius

St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura scored a first innings win over Maliyadeva Model School, Kurunegala in their schools under 13 Division Three second round cricket tournament match played at Ibbagamuwa on Monday.

It was a tactful decision by the Aloysians from the City of Gems when they declared their innings closed a modest at 127 for 4 after batting for 36 overs when they could have batted for a longer period and insulate themselves from defeat. This paid dividends as the Maliyadewa Model School team were dismissed for a paltry 81 with left arm spinner Uditha Wijesinghe taking 5 for 12 to round off a fine all round performance having earlier scored 52 with 9 fours.

St. Aloysius College 127 for 4 decl. in 36 overs (Dilan Vihandage 23 not out, Uditha Wijesinghe 52, Rajitha Nirmal 19, Chamith Dilshan 16 not out, K.D. Tharindu 2 for 33).

Maliyadeva Model School 81 all out in 47 overs (H.M. Weeratunga 22, Ishan Bandara 14, Uditha Wijesinghe 5 for 12).
