be accepted from December 29 to January 9, the Examinations Department
sources said.
Revaluation process will commence right after the closing date on
January 9.
Airman drowns

An airman was drowned when the boat he was rowing in the Nachchaduwa
tank during a pleasure trip, capsized on Friday.
Navy divers recovered his body on Monday. The victim was identified
as Nandana Shyamal, 28, of Naula, Matale.
Thirappane Police are investigating.
Dengue eradication

Public Health Inspectors, Grama Niladharis, Samurdhi Development
Kfficers and volunteers in Sainthamaruthu area educated the people to
keep their homegardens free of garbage. The programme aimed at
eradicating the dengue menace was launched in the Divisional Secretariat
division under the direction of Health Department officers.
Cabin crew training

The glamour of being an airhostess will not just be a dream for
village youth in the future, as President Mahinda Rajapaksa has
requested to provide an airline cabin crew training course through the
Vocational Training Institute, said Youth Affairs and Skills Development
Minster Dullas Alahapperuma.
Students have to pay exorbitant fees to institutions that conduct
airline related courses at present and it is beyond the reach of most,
he said. By successfully completing this course rural youth will have an
equal opportunity to seek employment in the lucrative airline trade, he
added.
JICA seminar
The JICA Alumni Association of Sri Lanka will conduct a seminar on
Currency Notes and Security Features on January 7, 2012 from 4.30 to
5.30 pm at the Sasakawa Memorial Cultural Centre, 22nd Lane, Colombo 3.
The resource person is Shellomi Gunawardena, Additional Superintendent,
Currency Department, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Driver without valid permit fined

A driver of a tipper-truck found guilty of transporting sand without
a valid permit was fined Rs 50,000 by Matara chief magistrate Udesh
Ranatunga.
The magistrate also ordered to confiscate the load of sand.
National youth awards
The 33rd National Youth Awards ceremony jointly organized by the
Youth Affairs and Skills Development Ministry and the National Youth
Services Council will be held at the NYSC hall, Maharagama today at 6.30
pm.
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma will be the chief guest.
