SLT assists injured Russian tourist

Sri Lanka Tourism (SLT) will make arrangements to assist the Russian national, who was injured after being attacked in an incident at a hotel at Tangalle last Sunday.

She has now been transferred to a private hospital in Colombo and is under treatment, Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Nalaka Godahewa said.

The remains of the foreign victim, Kuram Shaikah Zaman would be sent to his country after getting confirmation from his family members, he said. The government has already taken steps to arrest the persons involved in the killing.

A foreigner was gunned down and his partner injured in an incident which took place during a clash that erupted during a Christmas party held in a tourist hotel in Nature Resort in Tangalle.

The injured woman was first taken to Tangalle hospital and subsequently transferred to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle and later transferred to Colombo and has undergone a surgery.
