Sanka Ramesh the star all-rounder will lead Moratu Vidyalaya Cricket
team this year. Sanka who is right hand bat and a right arm leg spinner
is undoubtedly the best all-round cricketer in the year 2010/2011
inter-school cricket season. He became the third schoolboy in the island
to achieve a very rare feat when he scored 1187 runs and claimed 103
wickets in the last season. His epic knock of 225 against Zahira
College, Colombo and a century and a match bag of ten wickets against
St. Sebastians in the last season will be long remembered.
He was in the Sri Lanka Schools Under 19 Cricket Pool and very
unlucky for not gaining selection for the under 19 tour of India. When
contacted by the Daily News Sports the Principal of Moratu Vidyalaya
Lakshman de Silva said that Sanka is the best all-rounder produced by
his alma-mater which has a very long history.
He brought honour and glory to his school and he carried away several
awards at the Schoolboy Cricketers Awards Ceremony and further added he
is happy that a cricketer of the calibre of Sanka is produced during he
is at the helm at Vidyalaya.
