Heavy fines on seven with kasippu

Seven suspects nabbed with kasippu were produced before the Horana magistrate last week.

Three suspects arrested with eight drams of kasippu were fined Rs 5,000 each by Horana Magistrate Mahinda Ranasinghe. The fourth suspect nabbed with eight drams of kasippu was released on Rs 10,000 bail and two personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each.

The magistrate also ordered him to appear before Ingiriya Police on the first Sunday of every month. The other suspects were also fined by the magistrate.
